Sustainable Fashion

For quite some time we have been thinking of sustainability, and, how fast fashion does nothing for our planet, for us, or, for the animals living in it. Fast fashion is very affordable and accessible, not to mention convenient which is why it is so popular. But, as a result of the above, the finished product will be made from poor quality materials and cheap manufacturing. Also, they’re made in terrible conditions paying employees next to nothing often using child labour.

Slow fashion is now getting more recognition which means producing high quality garments that last longer, ethically produced and eco-friendly. For some it’s very difficult resisting the lure of fast fashion, particularly if it’s something that you have always done when it comes to shopping for outfits. If you research and find out the devastating consequences on the environment you may change your approach to the garments that you spend your money on in the future.

Buying quality garments, ethical fashion, donating your unwanted clothes, or, thrifting are some ways that you can minimise waste on our planet. Here at Tooksie we prided ourselves on quality pieces that last longer, we have never purchased a large amount of inventory adding styles daily or weekly, or styles that go out of trend quickly that have unnecessary amounts to choose from. Since researching the negative effects of fast fashion, going forward we intend to fully embrace the slow fashion movement to encourage conscious consumption in order to protect the environment and workers’s rights.
